Strength and Stability: It's More Than a Slogan

Strength and Stability for Over a Century is more than a slogan for Old Republic Title. It's who we are. It's how we stand out from the competition. We take our role as a title insurance underwriter seriously and we are proud of our ability to meet our commitments to policyholders.

These aren't empty declarations. Old Republic Title's roots go back to 1907, so our foundation is strong. We've remained stable through challenging economic times. How do we do that?

We have unsurpassed financial strength ratings. Since 1992, no other title insurer has had higher overall financial-strength ratings than Old Republic Title*. Our statutory reserves and surplus are 20.3 times the five-year average claim payments** – the strongest of all the national title insurance underwriters. Perhaps you've seen this on advertisements, but what does this mean?

As an insurance company, we set aside money to ensure we can meet our obligations when issues arise for our insureds. Our statutory reserves are funds set aside to pay future claims. Surplus represents the amount remaining after all liabilities are subtracted from the statutorily determined assets.

Statutory reserves and surplus together are a measure of the total insurance company resources available to cover future claims. Put another way, we have enough surplus and reserves to cover over 20 years of claim payments (at historical claim levels). That's over 70% stronger than the next ranked national underwriting family**. The numbers speak for themselves.

Our parent company, Old Republic International Corporation, is one of the nation's 50 largest publicly held insurance organizations with approximately $19.7 billion in consolidated assets and $4.7 billion in common shareholders' equity***.

It's no surprise we take pride in our strength and stability, but this wouldn't be possible without our independent policy-issuing title agents. They mean the world to us and they play a big part in helping us fulfill our responsibilities. In the last three years, 85% of Old Republic Title's premiums have come from title agents – greater than any other national title insurance underwriter****.

Old Republic Title remains focused on our title agents and we are committed to proving it. Every. Day. We value this relationship – by working with our title agents to develop tools and resources to help them do their jobs. Like teammates, the agent-underwriter relationship is united. When our agents need us, we roll up our sleeves and work alongside them. Together we share success.

Old Republic Title offers the underwriting support, knowledge, experience, strength and stability to fulfill your expectations and so much more.
